Janelle's Response to Flag story

I think that the veteran took the whole situation a little too seriously. I understand if he feels strongly about his country, but i think he could of handled the situation differently. Yes, I do realize that we are in the United States, but the owner of the store was a white man, and he didn't mean any harm by flying the Mexican flag above ours, he was just trying to attract more Mexican customers. I think that the veteran could have approached the store owner and told him about his feelings about having the Mexican flag above the American flag, but I think just cutting the flag down would cause more tension and maybe bigger problems between the owner and the veteran. I know I would understand if somebody asked me to take the flag down because it offended them, and I would be a lot more angry if somebody just went and cut it down, without talking to me politely about it first.
