I think in this case it was a good idea to go through wiht the operation. It helps to know that people in their village are supporting the girl and even see her as an incarnation of Lakshmi. It seemed like the doctor's knew what they were talking about and were pretty sure they could do the operation. Also it was a free operation for a poor family and not alot of opportunities are free and without the operation there would need to be money spent for special needs for the child. I think it's risky but I agree with Megan, 20% doesnt seem as terrible.
