No where to go
These past few days, we have been disucssing the NIU shootings in our classes, and there seems to be a pattern developing.... are schools safe to begin with? Even with the required lock down drills and cops at the school how can gun control or violence for that matter be limited on school grounds? OUr freshman year, we experienced a lock down and i remember being confused as to why the teacher turned off the lights and had us huddle in the corner... was this "brilliant" plan going to save us from the potenital danger at the school during that time. Not a great defense in my opinion. What can society do that we havent already done that will resotre safety to our school systems? If we can't prevent violence from the person him/herself then we should strengthen our safety at school. Especially since we are the next generation going to college next year, how are we going to be protected? Have we not learned from past shootings... how many more lives must be taken in order for someone to really take control of the situation??????
