like mr. spoor said in class the emotional aspects of anything like this are hard to cure. No matter which way you slice the cake theres going to be an emotional side effect. In any situation like this or similar to it, if you go into the surgery and the baby(ies) end(s) up dying the mother is going suffer the pain of losing a child as well as she will wonder what would have happened if she had not had the surgery. If they dont have the surgery and the baby lives she will always wonder what could have happened if she had had the surgery, could it have had a more normal life? on the other hand if she doesnt have it and the baby dies she will always feel guilty. So in trying to answer Heather's question the emotional trauma will occur either way so to me it isnt a matter of if its worth it or not. this kind of situation has to be incredibley diffacult to make and i couldnt imagine having to ever do that.
