First off, I think it is pathetic that a 14 year old has to resort to something like this to get revenge of a situation.
I think, what really drives these people to do things like shootings is getting the attention they have always wanted. Like Shannon said, aobut Cho and the virginia tech shootings, Cho wanted to be glamorized on T.V. and we did exactly that, and soon as it happened it was all over the television. When the media glamorizes things like that it gives people bad ideas. Same with scary movies, i think it gives people with sick minds good ideas to go out and do something. I also do not think there is a way to stop this from happening. If somebody is crazy enough to bring a gun to school and start shooting people, they are going to find away around the metal detectors and security guards. You never know what is going on in other people's minds, and it's scary.
